AUTHENTIC TOBACCO TIER DRYING STICK
Authentic Tobacco Tier Drying Sticks are an agricultural piece of equipment. During harvest, as tobacco plants were cut in the field, the stalks were inverted and hung on the drying sticks. Each tier stick would hold 4 or 5 tobacco stalks. Tobacco barns are tall with 6 or 7 rafter rows from which hundreds of the drying sticks were hung, and the tobacco would dry and cure.
We have reclaimed our Tobacco Tier Dying Sticks and have renewed them as Hiking Sticks. Each is unique with its own shape.
The cleaned-up sticks, fresh with multiple coats of tung oil evoke a deeply warm reddish-brown color – the patina of tobacco juices and curing smoke and scores of harvests. We have added a leather lanyard and offer them as the perfect walk-about accompaniment.
Time, smoke, heavy tobacco stalks, dripping tobacco juices and curing smoke have created unique shapes, bends, curves and are rarely straight. Please look at the pictures and choose carefully.
To honor the authenticity of the limited-edition numbered hiking stick, the Burley Barn Hiking Stick #6, comes with a Tobacco Barn Revival die struck medallion to attest to its authenticity.
