Commitment to Best Practices
Attribution
We believe in giving credit where credit is due. Every reproduction includes attribution to the original artist and publisher as a professional courtesy, even when not legally required for public domain works.
Historical Context
Each reproduction is accompanied by educational information about its creation, significance, and the artist's contribution to their field. We believe this historical context enhances appreciation of these works and reinforces their status as complete historical documents.
Full-Size, Museum-Quality Reproductions
Unlike thumbnail reproductions that might appear in books or catalogs, we create full-size, museum-quality reproductions that maintain the scale, impact, and detail of the original works. This approach preserves the historical integrity of the artwork while allowing viewers to experience these cultural artifacts as they were originally intended. Our approach is supported by the Bridgeman doctrine, which established that exact reproductions of public domain works do not create new copyright restrictions, regardless of the quality or size of the reproduction.
Appropriate Disclaimers
For works containing trademarks or corporate identifiers, we include clear disclaimers noting our reproductions are historical items with no affiliation to or endorsement by current trademark owners. These disclaimers explicitly state that we reproduce these works as complete historical documents and do not claim any rights to the trademarks they contain.
Complete Reproduction Integrity
We maintain the integrity of the original works by reproducing them in their entirety, rather than extracting or isolating individual elements. This preserves their original context and artistic vision while respecting both historical accuracy and current trademark protections.
Transparency
We maintain complete documentation of our research findings and decision-making process for each item in our collection, and we're happy to discuss our approach with customers, scholars, and rights holders.
